Achieving flawless, radiant skin doesn’t have to be complicated, as Amish Patel, BEM and award-winning aesthetics practitioner and skincare expert at our flagship aesthetics clinic in Gravesend, Kent, explains. With the right skin care and treatments, you can enhance your natural glow and maintain healthy skin, regardless of skin type. Here are some simple yet effective tips to boost your beauty routine:

Every beauty routine begins with proper cleansing. Choose a gentle face wash cleanser that suits your skin type and skin texture to remove impurities, makeup, and excess oil. Cleansing twice a day with a quality face wash helps prevent clogged pores and dull-looking skin. Use an oil cleanser for easy waterproof make-up removal.
Expert Skincare Tip: Double cleanse on days when you are wearing make-up to ensure you remove all make-up residue. I use the NuSkin Cleansing Device, which effortlessly removes oil, dirt and bacteria to prep the skin in readiness for your skincare and leaves you with smoother-looking skin.

Exfoliation in your skincare routine is key to removing dead skin cells, preventing congested pores and promoting new skin cell turnover. Boost your beauty routine by exfoliating. Use a chemical exfoliant with AHAs or BHAs if you have sensitive skin, or a physical scrub for a more hands-on approach. Exfoliating toners can be less abrasive and kinder to sensitive skin. Aim to exfoliate 1-3 times per week for optimal results.

Hydrated skin is happy skin. Use a moisturiser suited to your skin type to lock in moisture and prevent dryness caused by the skin’s water loss through drying winds and artificially heated environments. For an extra hydration boost in your skin care routine, consider layering a facial serum under your daily moisturiser and night cream. Browse my favourite products HERE.
Expert Skincare Tip: Choose hyaluronic acid serums for boosting hydration. Hydrating serums are excellent for maintaining the skin’s moisture barrier, and when applied to warm, damp skin, can lock in even more moisture, so apply after a shower or bath as part of your nighttime routine.

Never skip sunscreen. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 50 every day, even when it’s cloudy and during the winter months. Sun protection helps prevent premature ageing, pigmentation and reduces the risk of skin cancer.

Beyond a daily skincare regime, consider aesthetic treatments that cater to your skin’s specific needs. Treatments such as PRP facials, skin boosters and dermal fillers, including lip filler, or jawline contouring, not only enhance your facial structure but also promote a youthful appearance. Cheek contouring can help lift and redefine a sagging jawline and boost lost volume for a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance. When these treatments are performed by professionals, they can deliver significant improvements and look very natural-looking.

Lifestyle factors such as a healthy diet, plenty of water, and regular exercise can significantly impact the appearance of your skin. Incorporate whole grain foods, natural ingredients and antioxidant-rich foods into your diet. Superfoods like broccoli and spinach are great for skin because they’re packed with vitamins (A, C, E, K), minerals, antioxidants, and lutein, which boost collagen (firmness), fight sun damage/inflammation, promote cell repair, and keep skin hydrated, leading to a clearer, more youthful, and glowing complexion. Stay hydrated, and ensure you’re getting enough sleep to allow your skin to repair and rejuvenate.

Your skin is unique and so should your skincare routine be as individual. Pay attention to how your skin reacts to different products and treatments, and adjust your routine accordingly. For example, Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that boosts collagen, fights sun damage, brightens tone, and reduces wrinkles by neutralising free radicals. However, it can make skin sensitive due to its acidic nature (low pH) in L-ascorbic acid forms, instability (oxidation), high concentrations, and combination with other actives like acids, which can disrupt the skin barrier, causing redness, stinging, dryness, or inflammation, especially for sensitive skin or conditions like rosacea. Choose your retinoid complex with care to ensure you start off with a low percentage and build up use and percentage gradually to ensure you don’t compromise your skin.
Q: How often should I be using a face mask?
A: This depends on the type of mask and your skin type. Generally, using a face mask 1-2 times a week is sufficient for most people. If your mask focuses on hydration or soothing, you might use it more frequently to boost your beauty routine.
Q: Are aesthetic treatments safe?
A: When performed by qualified medical professionals, treatments like dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are generally very safe. Always ensure you put your face in safe hands, when seeking aesthetic treatments
Q: Can I use the same skincare products in the morning and at night?
A: Some products can be used both day and night, like cleansers and moisturisers. However, active ingredients such as retinol and stronger exfoliants are typically best used in your nighttime routine.
